RECOVERY OF TITANIUM FROM ITS TETRACHLORIDE BY CALCIUM DISSOLVED IN MOLTEN CaCl2
V. Lebedev, A. Babin, V. Polyakov, D. Rymkevich, I. Bezdolya
In the experimental workshop of AVISMA branch of OJSC "Corporation VSMPO-AVISMA" experiments on the recovery of titanium from its tetrachloride by calcium, dissolved in molten CaCl2 were carried ont. It is shown that when enough of the reducing agent in СаС12 soluble chlorides of titanium of a lower valence, mainly TiCl2 are formed. Upon dissolution of the frozen float in water causes oxidation of the ions Ti2+ to the trivalent state, accompanied by heating of the solution and evolution of hydrogen. In the solid residue the intermediate reduced forms of oxygen-containing compounds mainly Ті2О, TiO, Ti4Fe2O0,4 are present, gives metallic luster to a Deposit. An excess of reducing leads to complications associated with the washing of slightly water-soluble compounds of Ca(OH)2, CaCO3, resulting from the interaction of Ca with water.

INFLUENCE OF GADOLINIUM ADDITIONAL ALLOYING ON STRUCTURE AND PROPERTIES OF A PILOT HEAT-RESISTANT TITANIUM ALLOY IN CAST AND DEFORMED STATE
I. Grushin, S. Skvortsova, K. Speranskiy, A. Demakov, N. Mamontova
The influence of different gadolinium content on the structure and properties of a pilot heat-resistant near-alpha titanium alloy was studied in this work. It was stated that introduction of gadolinium into the alloy resulted in a change of intragranular cast structure, predominance of the nucleation process over the growth process at cooling the alloy after deformation, and contributed thereby to dispersion of the structure, slowing down oxidation rates and increase in cyclic durability.
Keywords: heat-resistant titanium alloy, phase composition, phase equilibria, structure, rare-earth metals (REM), gadolinium.
INVESTIGATION OF CRYSTALLIZATION STRUCTURE IN Ti-10V-2Fe-3Al ALLOY DURING VACUUM ARC REMELTING
E. Kondrashov, M. Leder, K. Rusakov
In this work we considered the method of evaluating thermalphysic parameters of titanium alloys needed for mathematical modeling of ingot solidification during vacuum arc remelting (VAR). Transition from the columnar solidification structure to the equiaxed one in Ti-10V-2Fe-3Al alloy during VAR was investigated experimentally and in theory. Heat treatment mode was determined which makes it possible to reveal dendritic crystallization structure in several parts of the ingot.

M. Kollerov, A. Burnaev, D. Gusev, A. Sharonov
The possibilities of the development of actuators with elements made of shape memory titanium nickelide are considered in this paper. The influence of the scheme and exploitation parameters on the specific work and the temperatures of shape recovery of the elements made of titanium nickelide have been established. It is demonstrated that the performance of such actuators strongly depend on the critical strength and deformations of the material.
